EWA Supports Virginia State Police Waiver Request

EWA filed Comments supporting the request for a waiver of 22.565(f) from the VA State Police to allow an increase in mobile output power on its Part 22 two-way paging channels from 60 to 100 watts with a maximum ERP of 150 watts. The STARS system is being upgraded from FDMA to TDMA technology to increase capacity and its technical consultant has determined that it will experience a loss in coverage if power cannot be increased to balance talk-in and talk-out mobile coverage. The system uses both Part 90 and Part 22, Subpart E frequencies and the requested power level is permitted on Part 90 frequencies.
