Privacy Policy
THIS ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY INFORMS YOU ABOUT THE INFORMATION THAT THE ENTERPRISE WIRELESS ALLIANCE (“EWA,” “WE,” OR “US”) COLLECTS WHEN YOU USE THIS WEBSITE OR OTHER EWA ONLINE SERVICE (THE “SITE”), AND HOW WE USE, SHARE, AND PROTECT THE INFORMATION COLLECTED. YOUR USE OF THE SITE CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE SITE.
Your use of this Site is also subject to our Terms of Use.
Types of Information Collected
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you use the Site. The personal information we collect depends on the feature offered, and may include your first name, last name, email address, mailing address, phone number, username and/or password. Some information you may supply, such as credit card information, is encrypted and transferred to a credit card authenticator, and not held or viewable by EWA. We may also collect certain non-personal information voluntarily provided by you, such as your company name and job title and other information about you, your company or that of a customer for whom you provide a service. We collect this information when you login or create an account, sign up for email updates, apply for membership or renew your membership, place an order, contact us, post comments in a public or private online community, or participate in other features at the Site. Use of a Site may not require any form of membership or registration, but EWA members and other registered users may be able to access a Site or areas within a Site that are not available to the general public.
As a general matter, each time you visit the Site, the hosting company’s server collects basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, unique mobile device identifier (if mobile device is used), browser type and operating system, referring domain, clickstream data (e.g., pages viewed and time spent), and access times. We use this information, which does not allow us to contact you personally, to understand and analyze trends, administer the Site, learn about user behavior at the Site, and gather demographic information about our users as a whole.
Use of Your Information
We use the personal and non-personal information we collect from you, individually or combined, to facilitate use of the Site and features, communicate with you, respond to your inquiries, process your requests, register you for e-mail updates and other features, enhance and improve our marketing and promotional efforts, Site content, user experience, and products and services, better understand your interests and preferences, and provide you with relevant information. You can opt-out of commercial e-mail messages from EWA through the unsubscribe links provided in the e-mails. Note, however, that you cannot opt-out of certain non-commercial, transactional emails that we may send from time to time and relative to the service to which you subscribed and/or made payment to EWA.
Use of Cookies and Other Technologies
Some of the pages within the Site may use “cookies,” which are identifiers that a website places on your computer’s hard drive to facilitate the interaction between your computer and the website. Different types of cookies, such as session and persistent cookies, are used for different purposes. We and our third party service providers (including analytics and advertising service providers) may place cookies on your hard drive or use other technologies, such as tags and clear GIFS, sometimes called web beacons, to facilitate site navigation, personalize your experience, perform analytics, remember your information when you use the Site, offer you relevant products and services, serve advertising, and track users across other websites. Information collected through cookies and other technologies may include your IP address, browsing activity, search engine referrals, and responses to advertisements and promotions.
Most web browsers allow you to set preferences about cookies you wish to accept. Consult your browser settings and follow the instructions to control cookies on your device. If you remove or block cookies, you may not be able to use or access certain features at the Site.
Online Behavioral Advertising
As explained above, our service providers may use cookies, tags, and other technologies to collect and use information about your visits to this Site and other websites for purposes of serving ads likely to be of interest to you, including ads for EWA’s products or services. If you opt-out, you may still receive online advertising from us, but the ads you do receive may be less relevant to you. If you delete or block cookies, buy a new computer, access our websites from a different computer, login under a different screen name, or change web browsers, you will need to opt-out again.
Our advertisers may contract with a third party service to host their ads, in which case an ad serving vendor contacts the advertisers’ hosting service for a particular advertisement. An independent cookie may be used by the third party service, but we do not have a mechanism to allow visitors to opt-out of cookies from vendors with whom we do not have a direct relationship.
Disclosure of Your Information to Third Parties
We may share your information with select service providers and other agents to: fulfill your requests and orders; perform analytics; conduct research or surveys; provide you with information and updates; and maintain, improve, and deliver the Site, content, and advertising. We do not sell your information to third parties, but we may share it with unaffiliated third parties (such as our partners and advertisers) whose products and services may be of interest to you for their own marketing purposes. Where we do offer you choices about receiving marketing messages from third parties, we will honor them. In addition, information provided by EWA members may be made available to other members, prospects, and other third parties through a member directory or attendee lists at our events. We will not otherwise share your personal information without your consent except (1) to safeguard the Site, intellectual property, users, or the rights of third parties, (2) to investigate violations of our Terms of Use, (3) as required by law or in response to a court order or legal request, or (4) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets.
Protection of Your Information
We strive to employ reasonable security measures to protect the personal information we collect from you from loss, alteration, and unauthorized disclosure, access, and use. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt information during transmission. We do not process or store your credit card information on our servers; when you provide credit card information, it is sent to a third party service provider who then processes and stores the information on its servers. Our service provider is contractually required to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Keep in mind, however, that no data transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You transmit any information to us at your own risk, and you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your password and login information.
How to Access and Modify Your Information
If you have created an online account on our Site, you can access, update, and change the information associated with your account by logging in to your account online. If you do not have access, you can contact us by phone or email, as indicated below.
Changes to Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time, and any changes will take effect upon posting, provided that we will not retroactively change how we handle your personal information without your consent. Please check back periodically for any changes we may make to this Privacy Policy, as your continued use of the Site constitutes your agreement with the then current Privacy Policy.
