Spectrum Expert Pierre de Vries to Keynote EWA’s Wireless Leadership Summit

June 14, 2018

The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA), the national association and leading advocate for business enterprises that rely on private wireless communications systems, announced today that noted spectrum policy expert Dr. Pierre de Vries will deliver the keynote address at the 2018 Wireless Leadership Summit. Dr. De Vries will share his analysis of next-generation wireless systems and the difficulties and opportunities these emerging technologies pose for spectrum policy and business development.

“The spectrum environment has become increasingly complex, but that does not have to put a cap on new technologies or entrepreneurial opportunities,” said EWA President Mark Crosby. “Sharing is the new norm, from the Federal Government to business enterprise users and from terrestrial to space systems. Understanding how to mitigate interference becomes crucial so that these systems can coexist and not compete. Addressing this problem is a key to the forward motion of our economy. Dr. De Vries has much to say of value on this topic.”

Pierre de Vries is an Executive Fellow and Co-Director of the Spectrum Policy Initiative at the Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Colrado, Boulder. His current work focuses on maximizing the value of radio operations by modeling and managing interference better.

The 2018 Wireless Leadership Summit will be held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. De Vries will speak on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 10:15 a.m., local time.

The Wireless Leadership Summit provides decision makers in the private wireless industry an opportunity to reflect on current industry trends and what these changes mean for their ongoing success. In addition to a full agenda of sessions, the Summit affords opportunities for networking with exhibitors, strengthening relationships with industry peers and seeing the latest tech on the exhibit hall floor. As a new addition this year, EWA’s Private Wireless Education Council will offer certification training courses for anyone who designs, installs or manages a private wireless system for customers or their own organization.

  • Using Spectrum Intel has been a game-changer for us. The platform is incredibly user-friendly, and the Market Area Reports have automated many tasks that we previously had to do manually, reducing delays of getting time sensitive data out to our sales team. The search functionality is impressively fast, and it’s clear that EWA is committed to continuous improvement, making the tool even more useful and intuitive. Highly recommend!

  • It’s remarkable what we’ve been able to do with EWA’s support. It’s a collaborative effort that has allowed Midland to deliver unparalleled support to our customers. No one else has the depth of understanding of FCC rules, which has resulted in more application grants. Midland Communications has a profound appreciation for EWA’s advocacy efforts. It has allowed us to have a voice before the FCC.

  • A Beep has been a happy customer of Spectrum Intel since its launch. It’s easy to use, the information is much more accessible, and the service includes extra features that other license activity reporting services don’t have. Spectrum Intel saves my team time each week.

  • We use EWA for all of our FCC license applications. The staff at EWA provide outstanding customer service and do all they can to see that applications are granted. EWA does a super job of staying on top of situations that affect our ability to file license applications and serve customers. EWA’s Regulatory Call keeps us informed about what is happening with the FCC and their online systems.
