EWA Files Comments on FCC Inquiry on SMR Regulation

On May 15, 2017, the Enterprise Wireless Alliance filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission in response to an inquiry regarding regulation of the Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) service. The FCC inquired whether SMR service should be moved from Part 90 to Part 27. In its comments, EWA recommended that the service not be relocated as many SMRs provide site-specific services and bear no resemblance to networks that focus on delivering data, video and other consumer-oriented offerings.
